4. Our Classroom Methods

  • We will show respect for asll people’s ideas, and property.
  • We will work hard to ensure our growth and to assist the growth of others.
  • We will persist, even when things are difficult and uncertain.
  • We will accept responsibility for the quality of our work and for our behaviors and actions.

5. Resolving Issues

At False Bay School , we strive to work with a restorative justice model for resolving issues as they arise. This involves holding a circle for all those concerned with their approval in which everyone’s voice is heard as the circle works towards resolution and to repair harm.

Think Sheets may also be used when issues or concerns are repetitive. Students will problem solve their difficulty using a Think Sheet, take it home for parent discussion and signature, and return it to their teacher.

In some situations students may be sent to see the Principal, Head Teacher or another member of the staff. A time-out from their classroom may be used as a cooling off period or consequence. When appropriate, parents will be contacted and informed so they are aware of the difficulties and can do follow-up at home. In extreme cases, Home Suspension may be utilize.

Home – School Partnership

In the area of teaching appropriate behaviour, we believe we are in a partnership with parents/guardians working to support students as they learn social responsibility. We welcome information from you about your child which will help us in this task. We ask that you talk with your children about their attitude, the approach they take and how they get along with others.

Note:

When travelling to and from school, students are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the school. Students who contravene the Code of Conduct while travelling to and from school in circumstances which adversely impact the welfare of other students or the atmosphere of the school may be subject to discipline.
